Duncan Clarke, PhD
Software Development Consultant

Dr. Duncan Clarke received the Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Michigan State University in 1986, the Master of Science in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1987, and Ph.D. in Computer and Information Science from the University of Pennsylvania in 1996.

He is the founder of Fremont Associates, a consultancy specializing in software project management and research on tools and techniques to support the development process for embedded systems. His research interests include software testing, formal methods for real-time systems, formally based software development tools and visualization of specifications. He has published numerous research articles in these areas.

He has held positions in both industry and academia including five years as a Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories, one year as a senior analyst at Proton World International, Brussels, Belgium, one year as an Ingenieur Expert with INRIA/IRISA, Rennes, France, and four years as a faculty member at the University of Kentucky and the University of South Carolina.

Dr. Clarke is a member of various professional societies including the IEEE Computer Society and the ACM, he has served on program committees for various workshops and conferences within his research area, and serves as a Program Evaluation Visitor for the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology.

Martha Clarke, MA
Management Consultant

Martha Clarke received her BS in Packaging Engineering from Michigan State University in 1984. She worked in the packaging field as a manufacturing manager specializing in operations and quality management. Clarke received her MS in Industrial/Human Relations from Rutgers University in 1991.

Clarke has held a variety of operations positions here in the US as well as Europe throughout her career. Areas of specialty include a variety of manufacturing operations management. Skills include plant start ups, plant relocations, plant turnarounds. Areas of expertise include safety leadership for sustainable performance, customer relationship development and partnering, quality and service focus areas development. Clarke has multi-cultural experience in plant needs assessments from the softer side of picking the right personnel for the staff to developing operator training programs to insure effective and efficient line start ups and employee training programs. Key metric development is critical in customizing programs for success. Clarke is versed in six sigma and lean tools and their application to normal operations as well as non traditional areas for achieving results. Clarke has worked with organizations to develop programs for operating cycles to achieve year over year productivity results. In addition to the hard bottom line results, Clarke has professionally mentored several key managers in organizations as they work their way through their careers to become leaders.
